Practice log

Every session. What I did, how it went, what to change. Newest first. This is the raw material; the lessons get written from it once I can actually play the thing.

Baseline

21 Sept 2026 · week 1

Where I start. Rated myself 0–4 on twenty skills; the numbers are on the progress page.

What I can do: open chords without looking, power chords and bar chords so the E and A strings are familiar, one pentatonic box (the first one everyone learns), play through a song if the chart is in front of me.

What goes wrong on Sunday: lead lines aren’t clean, I hit other strings. Fingers aren’t fast enough. Pinky cramps if a song sits on bar chords too long. Guitar ends up in the back seat, not heard.

What I want by 31 Dec: rhythm electric that can build energy at the peak of a hymn and play one clean lead line. Same notes, different strings, and the song lifts.

Setup: HX Stomp, bought patches, can’t build my own yet. 30 minutes, five days a week, living room, sitting. Never recorded myself.

Week 1 starts with hands, not theory: muting and metronome picking. Week 1 drill.
